Funding and Fundraising

We have nearly transformed three quarters of our building, making it barrier-free. When our Centre has been fully transformed and occupied, we will be financially self-sufficient. In the meantime we rely on voluntary donations to develop our services and to further our other work.

Recently the Starfish Trust made another generous donation of £300,000 to regenerate another spur in the building to provide barrier-free workspace for PROPS, a local charity that supports disabled young people.Gordon Richardson, the VCT Chair, said "We are very grateful for this magnificent donation" and "we are proud that Charlie and Mary Dobson have chosen our charity to continue the Starfish story."

We have used this donation to transform Spur 7 and create a coffee lounge, office space for VCT and more conference and community space - the wonderful Dawn James room that can accommodate up to 50 people.

Around £3m is still required to complete the transformation of the Vassall Centre into the first barrier-free facility of its kind in the UK.

As we receive no statutory funding, we are a truely independent, user-led organisation.

In addition to the income we generate ourselves we also fundraise to bringin the other money we need. We are continually seeking support and donations from the general public, trusts and foundations and other funding bodies. We also try to raise money and obtain other kinds of support from clubs, groups and businesses.

There are several ways for you to support our work.
