Guidance for Barrier-Free Design

  • involving users at every stage and having an open mind.
  • recognising what may be a barrier. Certain things are barriers for people with a particular impairment.
  • thinking inclusively about the whole range of impairments.
  • reviewing everything; from structure to smallest detail.
  • making barrier-free space attractive with inclusive features for the people who need them but carefully integrated to blend in.
  • seeking feedback from people with impairments and applying this to future work.
